Gianmarco's Restaurant is a full-service Italian dining spot nestled on Broadway Street in Birmingham, offering a warm, intimate atmosphere that pairs well with both casual get-togethers and low-key date nights. The restaurant is known for generous portions and a menu that leans heavily on classic Italian flavors, with dishes like Chicken Parmesan, Rigatoni Pasta, and Cheese Ravioli standing out. If you're in the mood for something a bit more adventurous, options like the Goat Cheese Pistachio Crusted Lamb or Paccheri Bolognese bring a touch of elevated creativity.

The vibe inside is cozy yet vibrant, striking a balance that feels neither too formal nor overly casual. Many visitors enjoy the wine bar tucked in the back or even the cellar space behind the building, where the wine selection is thoughtful and the setting invites leisurely sipping and conversation. The wine list offers approachable pricing on bottles, which encourages pairing your meal without breaking the bank.

Service experiences can vary — while some guests note attentive and welcoming staff who provide solid recommendations, others have felt a bit overlooked if not ordering from the bar. This suggests the atmosphere might feel more engaging when pairing dinner with a drink or enjoying the wine bar experience. The staff's familiarity with the menu and ability to guide diners through their choices is a strong asset here.

Menu highlights to consider include the Mushroom Ravioli and Four Cheese Pasta for those craving rich, comforting pasta dishes, or the Crab Claws appetizer if you want something with a seafood twist. Desserts like Tiramisù and the Chocolate Brownie round out the meal with classic Italian sweetness. Daily specials introduce fresh options that keep the menu lively and appealing for repeat diners.

Gianmarco's tends to attract couples looking for a date night spot with an intimate yet lively feeling, food lovers who appreciate well-executed Italian fare with good portion sizes, and groups interested in a pleasant wine-focused meal. Weeknights and weekend evenings appear to be ideal times to enjoy a relaxed yet engaging meal here, especially if you want to take advantage of the wine bar ambiance.

I got the mushroom ravioli and my wife got the 4-cheese pasta and both were absolutely incredible. The portions are very generous and the atmosphere is great. My only complaint was our server seemed a bit flippant with our presence. My wife made the comment that maybe we weren’t spending enough money for her to care since we didn’t get bottles of wine or any alcohol from the bar.

My husband and I tried out gianmarcos for a last minute date night. We went to the wine bar in the back and had a great time! Wine by the bottle was super reasonable and a very nice selection. The staff was super welcoming and made some great recommendations. My husband had the snapper special and I got the lasagna and we both loved our meals. Super cozy intimate atmosphere. Definitely get there early if you don't want a wait though. Valet was complimentary and super easy. I'll definitely be back!

I’ve been dining at Gianmarco’s since they opened in 2003, and I’ve enjoyed every single dining experience there. Portion sizes are generous, the pasta and sauces always taste fresh and cooked to perfection, and the daily dinner specials provide just the right amount of variety to keep the menu interesting and exciting. Gianmarco’s offers a full bar service and an impressive wine selection as well. The restaurant space is rather cozy with a view of the open kitchen which adds an interesting element to the ambiance reminiscent of the old Hot & Hot Fish Club. Of course, this does raise the ambient noise level a bit which might affect patrons with hearing disabilities. The service is always perfect with seasoned, attentive and friendly wait staff. Also, the front of house manager visits every table to ensure customer satisfaction in all elements of the dining experience. I highly recommend Gianmarco’s in Homewood. Do make reservations several weeks in advance for the best seating times.

Service was excellent and the food was incredible! We were in the whine cellar (behind the building) wonderful atmosphere. Couldn’t give this place enough stars if I wanted too. (Drinks in photos were already indulged in )
